Federal Member for Canning and Former SAS troop commander Andrew Hastie has called for more parliamentary scrutiny on the Department of Defence and the Australian Defence Force.

Speaking in the wake of the damning Brereton report into alleged war crimes by Australian soldiers in Afghanistan, Hastie told Gareth Parker the true nature of war has been ignored.
