The end of the cheesy toast: Sizzler to close permanently in Australia

Gareth Parker

Collins Foods have announced that the remaining 9 Sizzler restaurants in Australia will be permanently closing citing “peak COVID-19 impacts” as one of the primary reasons. Innaloo, Kelmscott and Morley were the three remaining stores in Perth.

In a statement Collins Food has said:

“As a casual dining concept, and unlike Collins Foods’ KFC and Taco Bell restaurants, Sizzler revenues and earnings have been slow to recover from peak COVID-19 impacts.”

Gary Mortimer, Researcher at Queensland University of Technology told Gareth Parker “the heyday of Sizzler and the cheesy toast back in the 80’s and 90’s were long gone.”
