The death of a Melbourne Cup legend
Champion galloper Might and Power has died at the age of 26. Might and Power suffered a colic attack on Saturday evening and was rushed to the Werribee Equine Centre where he could not be saved. He was euthanised early this morning.
Might and Power was the winner of the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate. Winning 15 of his 33 starts he won more than $5 million of prize money.
The Living Legends Retirement home near Melbourne where the horse was a resident has said:
“It is with the deepest sadness that we advise that one of the all-time greats of Australian racing, Might And Power, has passed away at the age of 26. We are completely heartbroken to lose this very special once-in-a-lifetime horse”
