Should WA pharmacists be taking on GP duties?

Are WA’s pharmacies underutilised?

A review of the sector by the McGowan government has found WA’s pharmacies could potentially be underutilised, suggesting pharmacists take on duties traditionally reserved for GPs.

If proposed changes are effective, pharmacists could soon be giving vaccines, prescribing some medication and managing chronic diseases.

Pharmacy Guild of WA director Matthew Tweedie and Australian Medical Association immediate past president Dr Omar Khorshid join Karl to discuss the issue.
