Revenue and jobs at risk as WA sports associations stay closed

Millions of dollars in revenue and hundreds of jobs are expected to be lost from state sporting associations as they remain closed amid the coronavirus lockdown.

A survey from the state’s peak industry body SportWest suggests clubs across WA are expecting to shed 660 full-time and casual staff by the beginning of next month – and lose up to $41 million in revenue.

The organisation’s chief Rob Thompson told Gary Adshead on Mornings they’re waiting on the nod from state and federal governments to resume.
