Perth influencer leaves sour taste at local cafes

Oliver Peterson

The owner of a pair of popular Perth cafe’s has hit out at an online influencer page after she received a direct message on social media platform Instagram asking for free meals in exchange for posting about the cafes.

Lara Wolinksi from the Sparrow’s Nest in Victoria Park and Mr Fox on William in Northbridge spoke to 6PR’s Oliver Peterson and says given the current economic climate, the business is in no position to be giving out free meals.

“It was pretty shocking to be honest, especially considering the timing”.

Miss Wolinksi replied to the Instagram page entitled ‘Perth Is Worth It’ expressing her disappointment, saying she had laid off 23 workers in one day during the height of the pandemic.

“Lockdown has been tough for sure” says Miss Wolinksi.

“I think every business in Perth has felt the pinch due to the pandemic”.

The ‘Perth Is Worth It’ page has since removed its message and seemingly shut down its account.
