Paywave safer than swiping

Using paywave technology to pay for your items without entering a PIN may seem like a recipe for disaster, but Police are saying it is safer than swiping your card in a machine that could be fitted with a scanning devise to steal your details.

Christopher Zinn is a consumer advocate says the cards with the chip in them used for paywave are “more secure than the old magnetic strip, but of course there is that liability if you lose your card and don’t report it someone can keep using it.”

Steve and Baz also used the opportunity to ask about the fees associated with paywave, Mr Zinn clarified because paywave is connected through the credit option some merchants will have a surcharge.
