Passion over results: Education expert

Millsy & Karl

Parents should be encouraging their kids to follow their passions rather than focusing on a high score in a generic test, according to an education expert.

Yong Zhau is a Professor in the School of Education at the University of Kansas and is visiting Perth to share his incites into how we can best prepare our kids for the future.

“Parents have to reconise that our children are walking into a future that’s different to our life, our past,” Prof. Zhao told 6PR Breakfast.

When Steve and Baz asked what parents can do, he shared this advice: “Help every child identify their passion, identify their potential rather than forcing them to go after one definition, like the ATAR score.”
