Major cuts to Schools Of The Air

Parents, students and teachers were in shock yesterday when they were told the State Government was cutting funding from WA’s Schools of the Air.

The regional education service will undergo major staffing cuts and five schools will close and the service will be run out of Perth city, Tash Johns is the WA President of the Isolated Children’s Parents Association told 6PR Breakfast.

“These children are so isolated, having their school in their region, having their teachers in this region, understanding where they live and where they come from and what their parents do, is enormous,” Mrs Johns told Steve and Baz.

Listener Natasha called in and told her experience as a former student of School of the Air and the positive impact it had on her life.
