Letters and parcels being left for weeks on end: “We have had older posties calling us in tears”

STEVE MILLS AND BASIL ZEMPILAS

Following up from “The Postie” contacting the 6PR Rumour File with information that letters and parcels are sitting around for weeks to process we spoke to Barry McVee, Branch Secretary for the WA Communication Workers Union.

Barry said that since the Government granted Australia Post relief to deliver mail every second day they are seeing letters and parcels getting left for weeks on end.

Barry said that the worst thing out of this is the older posties calling him in tears and asking why the current delivery system is messing up a job that they have had so much pride in for so long?

Australia Posts says:

“Due to technical issues and reduced staffing across our air services partners, some Express Post and Premium Post deliveries due for delivery today and tomorrow will be delayed by 1-2 additional days.  This will impact deliveries in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and Perth.
