“It doesn’t pass the common sense test”

Gary Adshead

The father of a teenager with a severe intellectual and physical disability – is pleading with the state government to lift its ban on allowing therapists in schools.

6PR listener and Perth father Ronan joined Gareth Parker to share his frustration about the way COVID-19 restrictions are affecting his daughters care at school.

Ronan’s daughter has a severe intellectual and physical disability but has been unable to see a therapist at her school due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Ronan has been told only the school body are allowed on campus meaning external carers are unable to visit the school.

He says his daughter usually receives one hour of treatment a week with a speech therapist and a physiotherapist.

The Department of Education has been contacted for comment.
