Is 40km/h Too Slow?

The City of Vincent is going to trial dropping the speed limit to 40km/h on some residential streets.

Mayor Emma Cole told Oliver Peterson it would be residential streets bounded by Vincent St, Newcastle St, the Swan River and the freeway. This would total “at least a couple of hundred (streets)”.

Mayor Cole said the decision was made based on discussions with the community.

“I’ve been hearing time and time again that 50km/h just feels too fast on our residential roads.

“There is rat running that happens on these little streets.”
