“In some places the only service is a pharmacy”- Pharmacy Guild of WA

A State Government review of pharmacies has put forward a proposal to allow pharmacists to take on some of the work of GP’s such a prescribing some medications, giving immunisations and managing chronic diseases.

The broad proposal is being opposed by the WA branch of the Australian Medical Association, who warn it could jeopardise patients health.

The Director of the Pharmacy Guild of WA, Matt Tweedy joined Jane Marwick today to reinforce the important and far reaching role that Pharmacists play in the community’s health.
