“If you’re having a cardiac arrest, you want to be in another state”

Labor Member for the Southwest Region, Adele Farina told Chris why she thinks St John Ambulance needs restructuring.

Ms Farina said the work place culture at St John’s is detrimental to staff.

“What current volunteers and paramedics and former volunteers and paramedics at St John are telling me is that there is a toxic bullying culture within St John Ambulance,” she said.

“The number of qualified ambulance officers per 100,000 people that we have in Western Australia is the lowest…across Australia…this places those ambulance officers that we do have under a huge work load pressure.”
