“His claims certainly warrant genuine scrutiny”

The Prime Minister says he’s “deeply troubled” by allegations China tried to plant an agent in federal Parliament.

Former spy Wang Liqiang has revealed Beijing’s espionage operations, claiming they tried to recruit a Melbourne businessman to run for parliament.

Mr Wang now fears for his life and is pleading for asylum.

Scott Morrison maintains the Government is monitoring the situation closely.

Oliver Peterson spoke with Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Cyber Policy Centre China Analyst Alex Joske who has met and spoken with Mr Wang.
