EXPLAINED: The new rules making it easier to get a bank loan

The Federal Government plans to wind back some of the tough credit rules put in place after the global financial crisis amid concerns banks have become too risk averse.

The changes will make borrowers more accountable for providing accurate information to guide lending decisions, rather than lenders being required to obtain and verify extensive data about borrowers’ expenses.
