Double egg (not yolk) shocks farmer

An egg farmer in WA’s Binningup has got the surprise of a lifetime, cracking open an egg that had another fully shelled egg inside.

Blythe Calnan runs Runnymede Farm and tells 6PR Breakfast she knew something was up when she saw the size of the egg.

“It’s about three times the size of a normal egg and when you see that there’s definitely something odd.”
“And then because it had been damaged the white had leaked out a little bit so when I picked it up I could feel something heavy inside,”

Ms Calnan says it’s rare but not unheard of and the phenomenon has sometimes been called a “Babushka egg”.
