Does your ATAR determine success in University?

Liam Bartlett

New analysis shows just one in four students are entering university undergraduate courses based on their ATAR, exposing a huge contrast to the importance placed on ATAR in schools.

“Essentially each student gets ranked based on their scores in their subjects and they get given a number from 30 to 99.95…it’s essentially the percentage of students that they’ve gotten ahead of. If you get a 95 it means your the 95 top student across the country.” – Megan O’Connell, Director, Mitchell Institute.
