World Number 1, Novak Djokovic has been defaulted from the US Open after he hit a line judge in the throat with a ball.

The tennis player then left the venue before conducted a post match press conference, which will result in a fine.

Tennis reporter Craig Gabriel says a long discussion took place between Djokovic, the supervisor and the referee before the decision was made.

“She was standing, she fell to the ground, clutching her throat and gasping and almost yelping,”
“Under the rules, you’re responsible for your actions on court. It eventually did result in Djokovicbeing defaulted from the US Open.”
