Colin Barnett is building a wall… a retaining wall.

Jamie Burnett

Former WA premier Colin Barnett was the first guest on Weekend Breakfast’s newest segment today, catching up with Perth figures you haven’t heard from in a while.

As families around the State pick up the phone to check in on each other, Weekend Breakfast decided to do the same.

Mr Barnett is staying on his farm in Toodyay with wife Lynn and says they have plenty to do.

“I’m just building a wall at the moment… well a retaining wall,”he said.

“We are very fortunate to have this property, we are keeping to ourselves and have plenty to do.”

Mr Barnett said he believes the Covid-19 pandemic had been handled well at both a State and Federal level but did have some advice for the current premier.

“I think Mark McGowan is doing a very good job. My only advice to Mark would be to be a little bit more moderate in your language,” he said.

Mr Barnett said he was also concerned about the number of policies and exemptions being implemented by Government.

“For example, something like free child care it makes sense right now, but it’s going to be very difficult in a few months time taking that off people,”he said.
