Car servicing prices slashed

A Federal Government reform on vehicle codes and spare parts could see Australians paying much less for a car service.

The Assistant Minister for Treasury says the current regulations need to be changed because “manufacturers can withhold information, and many cases do withhold information so that independent repairers can’t properly service a car in many circumstances,” Minister Zed Seselja told 6PR Breakfast.

The Motor Trades Association’s Stephen Moir later joined Mornings with Gareth Parker, saying consumers need more choice but the industry also needs protecting.
