Bushfire vollies want to avoid knee-jerk entry into income scheme

The body representing WA’s volunteer firefighters is seeking a meeting with the Premier ahead of a COAG meeting in March, to be dominated by talks around bushfires.

It follows the Federal Government’s announcement yesterday of pay for volunteer firefighters in New South Wales up to $6000 in lost income.

President of the Bushfire Volunteers WA Dave Gossage told Andrew Williams he wants to speak with Mark McGowan to make sure any scheme entered in to isn’t a knee-jerk reaction.
