Big cash ban on buses

Lisa Barnes & Geof Parry

Transperth bus drivers will soon decline riders wanting to pay with $50 or $100 notes with many people taking advantage of buses who don’t carry change and let them on for a free ride.

“Well, we’re just not going to accept that any more. The few smarties spoil it for everyone else, so we’ve had it put through legislation and then we can refuse them travel,” David Hynes form Public Transport Authority told 6PR Breakfast.

Our listeners joined the conversation saying it’s a State service so the public should be allowed to use cash, others say they never use cash.
