Bassendean post box Heritage listed

Some of the last remaining, cast iron post boxes in WA that are still operational have been added to the State Register of Heritage Places.

Minster for Heritage, David Templeman told Chris that one of the boxes, which is located in Bassendean, had certainly seen some sites.

“When this postbox was first erected in Bassendean (142 years ago), there would’ve been mostly foot traffic and horse and carts…they’re very robust”.

Listen to Bassendean local, Mr Coleman speaking on 6PR Breakfast about why he petitioned the government to heritage list the post boxes here.
