Retired Olympic Swimmer Shane Gould is calling for a shake-up of Australian swimming lessons.

The triple gold-medallist has just completed a PhD in Australian swimming culture and found one in five children leave primary school without knowing how to swim.

She spoke with Gareth Parker this morning and says the idea that Australia is a nation of swimmers is a myth.
