Are supermarket free range eggs all they’re cracked up to be?

Are WA free-range eggs the real deal? The state’s egg producers led by Forrestdale-based egg farmer Joe Sacca say there needs to be an investigation.

He says the pricing battle waged by supermarkets is damaging the industry, and asks are all free range eggs available on supermarket shelves really free-range or could they be breeder eggs?

On Thursday, Agriculture Minister Alannah MacTiernan said she had written to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission urging an investigation after One Nation Senator Peter Georgiou raised concerns about the egg industry.

Joe Sacca spoke to Jane about the issue.
