An Esperance family were shocked to have visitors turn up on their doorstep expecting Airbnb vacation accommodation. The problem is the homeowners never knew their place was advertised on the website.

Scammers had simply uploaded photos of their home and taken the money. The Perth family who made the trip to Esperance were left $152 out of pocket and without a place to stay.

Carmel Creed, the rightful occupant of the home, brought the scam to 6PR’s attention.
