75th Anniversary of Auschwitz camp liberation

Gareth Parker

Holocaust survivors have gathered at the site of the former Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland for the 75th anniversary of the camp’s liberation.

Nine News reporter Sophie Walsh was at the ceremony and shared the feeling of the anniversary.

“The survivors, there were about 200 of them, they started off at camp number one and went to the wall where a number of the prisoners were lined up and shot dead,” Walsh described to Steve and Baz.
“This is 75 years since they were freed from this camp but you could still see the emotion was very raw and the memories are still very clear in their minds.”
