35,000 Aussies would need ICU a day if social distancing wasn’t in place: modelling

New modelling release by the Prime Minister shows 35,000 critically ill Australians a day would have needed intensive care beds to fight COVID-19 if harsh social distancing measures weren’t put in place.

Curtin University Professor of Epidemiology Peter Gething told Gareth Parker the model was mostly based on international data out of South Korea and China.

Professor Gething said at the moment, Australia is suppressing the transmission of the virus but that doesn’t mean we can go back to normal life.
