Pioneer anti-bullying researcher inducted into WA Science Hall of Fame

The Long Lunch

Australia’s leading expert on the prevention of bullying and one of the world’s most recognised and respected researchers in bullying and cyberbullying, Emeritus Professor Donna Cross OAM has been inducted into the WA Science Hall of Fame.

Professor Cross told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR’s Afternoons the most important way to prevent childhood bullying is to develop the child’s ability to make and keep friends.

“Sadly, the lonely child is the kind of easy target in any situation. So focusing from a very young age on building children’s social and emotional skills, how to regulate their emotions, how to make friends, how to keep friends, how to be a good friend is highly protective.”
