Perth’s COVID-19 outbreak reaches Bentley aged care home

An aged care facility in Bentley has closed to all visitors after a resident and staff member tested positive to COVID-19.
In a statement, aged care provider Juniper said the two cases at its Cygnet residential aged care facility had been confirmed on Wednesday and the company was working with state and federal health authorities.
The resident tested positive after showing COVID-19 symptoms and is currently isolating, the statement said, while the staff member tested positive on Wednesday afternoon.
Juniper chief executive Chris Hall said the health and safety of residents, staff and volunteers was the company’s priority.
“While visitor restrictions are in place we will be working closely with residents, their families and representatives to maintain alternative connections, such as via video phone calls and on social media,” Mr Hall said.
The news came as Western Australia recorded 94 new COVID-19 cases overnight, most detected in interstate arrivals who have since entered seven days’ isolation.
Thirteen cases were overseas travellers and 14 were locally acquired, with three unlinked to any known cluster.
