Perth to host ‘People’s Parade’ on Grand Final eve

The City of Perth have taken matters into their own hands and announced a ‘people’s parade’ on the eve of the AFL Grand Final.
The AFL had previously stated there would be no official Grand Final parade, with some media reports suggesting it was due to security concerns.
Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas told Millsy the ‘People’s Parade’ is a “terrific compromise.”
“There’s clearly an appetite for people to be involved with a Grand Final atmosphere,” he said.
“I’m wrapped that we’ve come up with a terrific, innovative compromise, that allows people still to soak up that atmosphere.”
The parade will kick off “just after lunch time” with two big brass bands playing club theme songs at either end of the Murray Street Mall.
They will then march towards each other and make their way towards Forrest Place where there will be the premiership cup and past greats of both clubs.
