Perth psychologist weighs in on Harry Garside’s emotional response to Olympics loss

Julie-Anne Sprague

Perth sport and exercise psychologist Dr Nick Medic has weighed in on Australian boxer Harry Garside’s loss at the Paris Olympics stating “life doesn’t stop” for Olympian athletes and they must have goals that go beyond the major event.

Garside was defeated by Hungarian Richard Kovacs and took to social media afterwards stating he “felt like a failure right now”.

“There are too many unknowns to just be able to focus on the dream goal… define success and what does it mean to actually fail” Dr Medic told 6PR Afternoons host Julie-Anne Sprague.
