A Perth school mum who has lobbied the principal at Middle Swan School to allow girls to wear pants and shorts for more than 18 months says it’s time Catholic schools moved with the times, and other parents agree.

Heidi Nagel told 6PR Breakfast co-hosts Millsy & Karl her little girl struggles to use the play equipment like her male counterparts because she’s forced to wear a skirt, and expressed sorry for possibly taking the matter to WA’s Equal Opportunity Commission.

“Particularly people I speak to at public schools are shocked to hear they can’t wear shorts… the schools aren’t really seeing or recognising, actually this is where we’re at [today],” she told the boys.
