City of Perth Lord mayor Basil Zempilas believes it’s time to change Australia’s national anthem to something more inspiring.

Lord mayor Zempilas spoke to 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead and questioned whether The Seeker’s song I Am You Are We Are Australian was better suited for our national anthem.

“I’m very patriotic and I’m not looking to get away or do away with tradition,” Lord mayor Zempilas said.
