Perth City Council candidate Gloria Zhang says she has no links to the Chinese Communist Party despite once having a role in the Australian Council for the Promotion of the Peaceful Reunification of China (ACPPRC).

Ms Zhang wanted to stand for the Perth City Council last year, but was barred because of an invalid lease agreement, however that has been rectified and she now lives inside the city’s boundaries.

But this year questions have been raised over her previous role as secretary-general of the WA ACPPRC.

“There’s never been activity, official activity, or on-going activity ever since (I resigned),” she told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.

“To be honest .. I can actually show you that there isn’t any activity since the establishment.

Ms Zhang says she resigned from that role a long time ago.

“There’s no activity … and I really didn’t want to put my name on too many communities … I’m more interested in how I can help the community.”
