AFL Chaiman Richard Goyder told Gary Adshead this year’s Dreamtime match at Optus Stadium was almost a dress rehearsal to secure Perth this years season decider.  Although he admits official talks only started recently due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Melbourne.

“We started talking to the South Australian and West Australian authorities to see the ‘what ifs’,” he said.

“The Dreamtime game showed the passion of football fans here and made people take notice.

“It [Perth] was probably always the favourite.”

The West Aussie born Chair will be at the game, saying he was pinching himself at last night’s dress rehearsal.

“My goodness it really is going to be here [Optus Stadium] and it’s going to be wonderful,” he said.
