Perth Airport reviews backup generator failure after chaos ensues
Passengers should check in with their airline direct regarding any flight status updates after a power outage at Perth Airport forced several flight delays and cancellations.
Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown told 6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker he has initiated an urgent review into why the backup generators for the terminals failed.
“They did not function correctly for terminals, I have initiated a review which has already begun this morning,” he said.
“The backup generators for the airfields did however function correctly, which allowed a number of aircraft to come and go safely.”
This is Perth Airport right now. Wild weather power outages quite literally leaving passengers in the dark, using their phone lights to try and find their luggage manually being brought out because the baggage carousels aren’t working.
