People power quashes massive coastal high-rise development

An anti coastal high-rise development group has claimed a small victory after plans for a $300 million, 43-storey beachfront development in Scarborough were scrapped by 3 Oceans.
The Chinese developer will go back to the drawing board a fourth time, after conceding to community concerns over the West Coast Highway project’s height and bulk.
Sunsets not Skyscrapers spokesperson Kieran Kelly told Millsy at Midday host Steve Mills the decision was a small win for people power.
“We’ve been battling this for five years now … it’s all about the sensitivity of the environment,” Mr Kelly said.
“I don’t think many people would say a 46-story building on the coast.. is appropriate for a coastal development.
“There’s no other buildings of that height anywhere along the WA coast.”
