Chief Advocate of National Seniors Australia says older Australian’s should be able to stay on in work or come out of retirement to fill the enormous aged-care workforce gap.

Ian Henschke told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings the startling fact that only ‘in Australia 2.9 per cent of people on a pension do some form of paid work.’

“You know how we like to be the best at sport? We love to win the Davis Cup. We love to win the cricket. We love to get gold medals at the Olympics. Why don’t we try to have some of the best social policies in the world?” he said.

“If Labor or the Coalition wants to win this election, they need to fix aged care, and they need to fix these issues around retirement incomes pension poverty in particular.”
