Pat Cummins appointed ODI captain: What does this mean for Warner?

Pat Cummins has been chosen to captain Australia’s one-day international side.

The Cricket Australia Board endorsed Cummins as Australia’s 27th ODI captain.

He will be taking over from Aaron Finch, who retired from the format last month.

Paddy Sweeney told Gareth Parker during Sport that there’s still a chance for a leadership role for David Warner despite a ban in place.

“The interesting thing, though, is that David Warner could not be considered for the role because the leadership ban still remains,” Sweeney said.

“You do have to wonder what this means going forward?

“I still think there’s a chance David Warner might have this ban overturned, and who knows, it could open up for a leadership role.”

Press PLAY to hear what this means for Warner and the future of Australian cricket.
