Party on! WA Premier changes private gathering limits

WA Premier Mark McGowan has changed his government’s policy for private gatherings and backyard/outdoor events after an original 30-cap limit made was shown to make little logical sense.

Guest numbers can now be 200, provided they adhere to the 2sqm rule and no more than 30 people are inside a home at any one time.

The change comes after 6PR Breakfast on Tuesday detailed the story of Adam Beavis, who was scrambling to find an alternative wedding venue after home gathering limits were initially set at 30 people as part of new social restrictions imposed from Monday.

Mr Beavis told Gareth Parker on Wednesday his March 5 wedding at a large rural property in Darlington can go ahead after Mr McGowan detailed the increased limits on his Facebook page.

“My gut feeling is they changed the rules after yesterday (interview on 6PR Breakfast). Thanks so much to you, 6PR and WA Health,” Mr Beavis said.
