Gareth Parker joined 6PR Radio Perth Live presenter Oliver Peterson for Parker’s Point on Friday and said the RBA would be feeling pressure from Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ to cut interest rates despite its independence of government.

“If there was no Federal election at all, I don’t think Michelle Bullock would cut at the February meeting, I think she would give it another month… Jawbone Jim as I’ll call him – the Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers – has done everything in his power to talk the RBA board into cutting,” Parker said.
