Article image for Overhaul to halt rising crime rates

The Police Commissioner has stopped short of saying the introduction of local policing teams has failed.

LPT’s are part of the new Frontline 2020 policing model, that undergo changes in a bid to stop the spiraling crime rate, up around 17 per cent on last year.

Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan has told Gary Adshead on the 6PR Morning Program he admits the LPT strategy hasn not worked as well as it was hoped.

The WA police union has welcomed the Commissioner’s decision to alter the Frontline 2020 police model.

WA Police Union president George Tilbury has told Gary Adshead on the 6PR Mornings Show the Union has long called for an overhaul.
