Tropical Cyclone Ilsa continues to track towards Western Australia and has been upgraded to a category five system.

A red alert has been issued for people between Bidyadanga and Port Hedland.

A blue alert is also current for surrounding areas of the coast, which extends southeast inland almost to the Northern Territory border.

6PR and Nine News reporter Zarisha Bradley told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live the cyclone is expected to make landfall later tonight.
