Oliver Peterson experiences the frontline of domestic violence response in police training role

Following last year’s Floreat murders, it was recommended that new police recruits receive more family and domestic violence training than ever before.

Oliver Peterson was invited to take part in a WA Police training exercise and told Senior Sergeant Wayne Hendrie how the simulation opened his eyes to the challenges police face.
“When you turn up to a job, anything can happen,” said Sergeant Hendrie. “So we try to train our people to escalate and de-escalate depending on the circumstances they are confronted with.”
