NSW to be reclassified as ‘extreme risk’ state

The state government will reclassify New South Wales to an ‘extreme risk’ state on Saturday after a surge in their daily COVID cases.
The reclassification means entry into WA from NSW will only be permitted in extraordinary circumstances
WA Premier Mark McGowan urged WA residents with a valid G2G pass to “come home immediately”.
It comes as NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard predicted they could be subject to 25,000 new infections a day by the end of January.
The Premier also announced that international arrivals will be halved to 265 on December 23, as concerns grow over Omicron variant.
The state recorded its first cases of the mutated strain from two returned overseas travellers in hotel quarantine.
