It’s been a big twelve months for musician Jae Laffer. After years living in Melbourne, the Panics frontman and solo artist returned to his hometown of Perth this year as the composer in residence at Gallop House.

Backed by the National Trust, the role has seen Laffer emerge with a new album and uncover a newfound love for painting.

In a wide ranging chat, Jae Laffer spoke to Jamie Burnett on Weekends about his approach to songwriting and what he’s loved about returning to Perth, while playing a sneak peek from his upcoming album.
