The new species has a dog-like snout and is very rare, only inhabiting two species of plant.

Curtin School of Molecular Life Sciences bee expert Dr Kit Prendergast told 6PR Millsy at Midday host Steve Mills all about the new species.

“It’s not really a snout,  bees don’t have noses…. it’s just a protrusion on the middle of its face,” said Dr Prendergast.
