A new program backed by the Federal Government is expected to roll out aiming to improve active play for kids.

This comes amid research revealing that only a third of young kids are getting the recommended amount of daily physical activity.

Professor Hayley Christian from the Telethon Kids Institute told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons that kids should be having at least three hours of active play per day including sixty minutes of energetic “huff and puff play.”

“Most children are falling short especially in energetic play” said Prof Christian.
